Coconut offerings can be made at kottiyoor during the festivals but they are not allowed to be thrown or broken; But on Atham naal, midway between Ammarakkal thara and the poovara – where flowers are kept, kudipathi sthanikan facing north, throw the coconuts breaking them as a ritual.
Abishekam from 1000 (kudam) pots on Atham naal marks the end of this yaga festival. The next year, festival begins with abhishekam from 1000 pots. There are no poojas at night or prasadam on Atham naal. Koothu is an offering of Atham naal.
